When it’s peach season, I literally can’t get enough of the fresh, juicy fruit. The problem? Peach season doesn’t last forever. But thanks to year round frozen peaches, you can easily enjoy this refreshing peach banana smoothie any time you’d like!

Peaches are always a hit in recipes around here, from Peach Overnight Oats, to this amazing Cake Mix Peach Cobbler Recipe. If you love peaches as much as I do, you definitely want to check them out!

Why You Will Love This Peach Banana Smoothie:

  • Refreshing and filling at the same time. The peaches give a refreshing flavor to the smoothie, but thanks to Greek yogurt and a touch of protein powder, this smoothie can always give you the fuel that you need to keep going.
  • It only takes 5 minutes to prep. One of the best parts of a smoothie is that it is literally only minutes away from the start time. Add everything to the blender, blend and sip. Easy and nutritious!
  • So easy to vary. While the recipe is a great guideline, you can easily vary it to meet your own dietary needs. You can use any milk you like, add greens or other smoothie boosters and more.
  • Kid friendly! Sometimes I make smoothies packed with spinach and while they are a favorite of mine, my son is not always on board. This peach banana smoothie is thick and creamy and the flavor is a great one the kids will love. Everyone wins.

Recipe Ingredients:

  • banana: frozen banana for best results. We like to keep frozen banana chunks in the freezer on hand so they are ready to go when we need them. Make sure they are ripe and getting brown spots before freezing for the best bananas in your smoothie. If you don’t have frozen bananas, you can add a handful of ice cubes in the end to chill and thicken the smoothie if necessary.
  • peaches: frozen or fresh are fine here if you are already using frozen banana. Here are some great tips for freezing your own peaches if needed. If using fresh peaches, you do not have to remove the peel.
  • milk: use what you love here or what you have on hand. Whole milk, skim, almond milk, soy, etc. Any will work well!
  • yogurt: I like to add a bit of Greek yogurt for a protein boost while also making the peach banana smoothie thick and creamy. While plain is an option, vanilla Greek yogurt is typically my favorite in this recipe.
  • maple syrup: a touch to add sweetness, but use as desired. Honey is another option or you can throw in a date.
  • cinnamon: this is the part I love in this smoothie because it adds a level of flavor that hints at peach cobbler or other cozy peach recipes. Just a slight touch is all you need, no need to overdo it!
  • protein powder: this is optional, but a small scoop of vanilla protein powder or even unflavored collagen is often a great addition to the smoothie to give it a little boost. Just make sure it is a protein powder you know you like the flavor of or it will not be too tasty in the end.

How To Make It:

  1. Add ingredients to the blender.
  2. Blend until smooth.
  3. Adjust sweetness or thickness and then sip and enjoy!

Doesn’t get much easier than that!

Recipe Notes:

  • Use frozen bananas for best results. The key to a good smoothie is getting it cold and thick. Frozen bananas are key in making this the case. To freeze, cut your very ripe bananas into 2-3 inch chunks. Lay on a parchment lined cookie sheet and flash freeze for about one hour before transferring to a freezer safe container or bag. This keeps them from sticking together in big clumps.
  • This smoothie is best eaten fresh. While you can freeze leftovers, I find that the smoothie has the freshest flavor right when made. It is not recommended to refrigerate the smoothie either. Any leftovers should be frozen and then thawed before eating.
  • If your peaches and bananas are frozen, an extra splash of milk may help. If using frozen bananas and peaches, and the smoothie is having a hard time blending, add an extra splash of milk to help. You can also use a tamper if your blender comes with one.

Peach Banana Smoothie Add-Ins:

When it comes to making this peach and banana smoothie, along with any smoothie, there are always lots of great additions to give your drink a touch of flavor, more nutrition and more. Try some of these options:

  • add 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • ground flax or chia seeds
  • leafy greens such as spinach or kale (this will turn the smoothie more greenish brown)
  • ginger– a touch of fresh ginger root will add so much flavor!
  • avocado
  • cottage cheese
  • bee pollen (people with bad seasonal allergies can benefit from local honey and pollen)
  • other fruit: blueberries, raspberries, strawberries and more
