Why these bacon wrapped pork chops need to be on your dinner table:
- Everything tastes better with bacon, right? And I firmly believe the same thing for maple!
- You don't need to put in extra effort to make something that looks fancy--you can make these bacon wrapped pork chops and wow everyone at the table without extra effort.
- They are so delicious! That clearly is the main reason--listen to your taste buds.
I am a firm believer here on the blog that if I cannot make something with minimal effort, then I am not going to expect you to make it as well. Recipes here on lemons + zest are EASY--that's a promise.
These Maple Bacon Wrapped Pork Chops are not exception.
What you will need to make this recipe:
- You will want to use a thin cut bacon. This will allow the bacon to cook fully. If your bacon is thick cut, it will not be cooked when the pork is done.
- Try to get pork chops that are equal in size. This will allow for even cooking.
How to make these Maple Bacon Wrapped Bacon Pork Chops:
- For best results and bacon that is crispy, microwave the bacon strips for about 4-5 minutes on a paper towel lined plate. You want to give the bacon a head start if you want it extra crispy. The bacon used to wrap the above photos was not pre-heated and it did not come out as crispy as I had hoped.
- Season the pork chops with salt, pepper, ground mustard and garlic. (step 1)
- Wrap two pieces of bacon around each pork chop. Try to allow the ends of the bacon to end up on the underside of each pork chop if possible. If not, give it an extra press to keep it in place. (steps 2 and 3)
- Place pork chops in a baking dish sprayed with oil. (step 4)
- Brush the maple along each of the pork chops to cover evenly. Turn the pork chops over to get both sides. (step 5)
- Re-set the pork chops evenly and place in the oven. (step 6)
- Bake for about 25 minutes or until they reach an internal temperature of 145°F. You can flip halfway through if desired, but I don't do this to allow the top bacon to get really crispy. Broil for 2-3 minutes to allow for extra crispiness and then allow to sit for about 5 minutes before serving.
Pro-Tips and Notes:
- Pork should be cooked to an internal temperature of 145°F - 160°F. This is updated from previous suggestions. Please allow your pork chops to cook to your desired internal temperature.
- As the pork chops cook, there will be plenty of bacon grease that releases. It can make the bacon on the bottom of the pork chops a bit soft. You can put the pork chops on a rack or even a broiler pan to allow that to drop below and away from the pork chops.
- You can play around with the flavor by using fun maple syrups. I have seen a Bourbon Maple Syrup recently that I know my husband would be a big fan of for sure!
- You do not want to overcook these Maple Bacon Wrapped Pork Chops. Pork can go from just right to overcooked pretty quickly. Keep and eye and try to shift to broil when the meat is just at 145°F and don't over broil.

Maple Bacon Wrapped Pork Chops
Ingredients
- 1 ½ lb pork chops (3-4)
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 2-3 T maple syrup
- 6-8 strips of thinly sliced bacon
- ½ tsp ground mustard
- ½ tsp ground pepper
- ½ tsp sea salt (more or less to taste)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F.
- For best results and bacon that is crispy, microwave the bacon strips for about 3-4 minutes on a paper towel lined plate. You want to give the bacon a head start if you want it extra crispy. **If you have a pretty powerful microwave, you may want to adjust the time here to 2-3 minutes. In my 1000 watt microwave it takes 7 minutes for a nice and crispy piece of bacon. You know your microwave best!
- Season the pork chops with salt, pepper, ground mustard and garlic. Wrap two pieces of bacon around each pork chop. Try to allow the ends of the bacon to end up on the underside of each pork chop if possible. If not, give it an extra press to keep it in place.
- Place pork chops in a baking dish sprayed with oil. Brush the maple along each of the pork chops to cover evenly. Turn the pork chops over to get both sides. Re-set the pork chops evenly and place in the oven.
- Bake for about 25-30 minutes or until they reach an internal temperature of 145°F. (145°F - 160°F is ideal for pork.)You can flip halfway through if desired, but I don't do this to allow the top bacon to get really crispy.
- Broil for 2-3 minutes to allow for extra crispiness and then allow to sit for about 5-10 minutes before serving.

Absolutely Delicious! I didn't pre cook the bacon, but cooked my one inch-thick bone in chops for an hour and ten minutes, adding water to help them stay moist. I had no dry mustard, so I brushed deli mustard on after the maple syrup. Big hit with the family. Thank you!
Yum!! I need to try with a bone in chop too!
Well I followed the instructions and microwaved the bacon for 4 minutes prior to putting on the chops. I didnt stop to think that putting bacon in the microwave for 4 minutes cooks it entirely. It was impossible to wrap the bacon around the chop by that point. Terrible idea.
Ugh. So sorry Megan. I know not all microwaves are equal and I should have noted that for sure. 4 minutes in my microwave is cooked but not crispy. Making note of this in the recipe. Appreciate the feedback!
Your photos are AMZING! Sharing with my friends.
Awwww, thank you so so much. This made my day!
