What’s better than a Golden Oreo? Golden Oreo Truffles! These simple, no bake treats are perfect for any party or gathering–dessert has never been this good, and this easy! Only 4 ingredients and so easy to make!

This post was originally published March 2019. I updated the post to include new photos, step by step process photos, and more information about the recipe.
When I discovered Golden Oreos years ago, I was so in love! Don’t get me wrong, the classic Oreo is, well, classic. I am still happy to have my cookies and cream ice cream and anything else with the chocolate goodness, but the Golden Oreos just get me.
It’s amazing what the world of Oreos has turned into. Growing up, we had Oreos but nothing more. That meant chocolate sandwich cookies and that was it.
Nowadays (yes, I am playing my ‘kids these days’ card right now), Oreos come in just about every flavor you can imagine! Carrot Cake Oreos, Lemon Oreos, Peanut Butter Cream Oreos–you name it, I bet it’s out there.
But none of them have made me quite as happy as the Golden Oreos. They are EVERYTHING.
These Oreo Truffles are the BEST dessert for just about any occasion. And if you are an oreo cookie lover like me, try these as well: No-Bake Oreo Cheesecake Cups, No Bake Peppermint Oreo Cheesecake, Oreo Chocolate Chip Cookies or Red Velvet Oreo Fudge.
Why You Will Love These Golden Oreo Truffles:
- They are so easy to make and no baking is required. A simple treat to make with minimal ingredients that feels like they took so much time and effort. Gotta love it!
- You can dye the white chocolate or use any color sprinkles to make fun color combinations for a holiday, your business, your favorite team and more! I love how customizable this recipe is. You really can make them any color you like!
- The kiddos can have fun making these right along with you. These are such a kid friendly treat. They will love making them just as much as eating them. You can give them each a small bowl of the cream cheese cookie mixture and let them roll them up.
Recipe Ingredients:
- golden Oreos: I use golden Oreo cookies, but you can seriously use any kind at all! Any other brand of vanilla sandwich cookies will also work. There are so many flavors to choose from these days. Same with the white chocolate, use any kind of chips or melting chocolates you like!
- cream cheese: Make sure your cream cheese is nice and soft. You can even microwave it for 15-30 seconds to help make it super soft. This will make mixing much easier.
- candy coating: You can use white chocolate, white chocolate wafers or vanilla candy coating for this recipe. Either will work. If possible, grab extra just in case. You may need a little extra depending on how much you use when coating the truffles. Or if you end up with more than 24 truffles, you will certainly need a bit more as well. One package of chocolate chips is just enough for 24 Oreo Truffles and none to spare.
- vanilla: a touch of vanilla extract is what sets these cookie truffles apart from the rest in my opinion.
- sprinkles: these are optional, but we love to top ours with rainbow sprinkles to make them look pretty. You can use any color or type of sprinkles you like!
Step-By-Step Instructions:
- Place cookies into a food processor and process until broken down into fine crumbs. It is ok if you still have a few chunks here and there but for the most part, you want them ground up. If you don’t have a food processor, you can put them in a large plastic bag and crush them with a rolling pin. (steps 1 and 2)
- Transfer Oreo crumbs to a medium mixing bowl. Add in softened cream cheese and vanilla. As you can see, my cream cheese was very soft. I actually put it in the microwave for about 15 seconds or so to get it that way for easier mixing. I also scoop it onto the cookies in spoonfuls to break it up a bit. This also helps with mixing. (steps 3 and 4)
- Mix cookie crumbs, cream cheese and vanilla until cream cheese is fully incorporated. You can use a spoon, or you can get your hands good and clean and knead the mixture to get everything combined. This is what I do most often. Perhaps a pair of gloves will help too! (step 5)
- Roll the mixture into bite sized balls. I manage to get 24 of these most of the time. The size of my truffle balls are about an inch and half in diameter. You can make yours smaller if that seems to big, but you may need more white chocolate to coat in the end. (step 6)
- I advise freezing the balls for at least 15 minutes here is possible. Sometimes I pop them in the freezer overnight even so they are super hard when it’s time to coat them. (step 6)
- When you are ready to coat your truffles, melt the white chocolate chips in the way you prefer. You can use a double boiler method or microwave them in 25 second increments. Stir in between and make sure you do NOT over heat the chocolate. (steps 7 and 8)
- Coat the Oreo Truffles. I use two forks and dip a truffle into the melted chocolate. Using the two forks, roll the ball around, and then let excess chocolate drip off before placing on parchment paper or another surface. Use one of the forks to help push it nicely onto the surface. (steps 9, 10 and 11)
- You may want to have several forks to switch out here as well.
- Add some sprinkles on top and allow chocolate to dry before serving. (step 12)
- Store in the refrigerator for up to a week.
Recipe Tips
- You can use any flavor Oreo you like. While I suggest the golden Oreos, any sandwich cookie similar to an Oreo should do the trick. I know that Oreos have a lot of flavors out there these days so feel free to play around!
- These can easily be made for any holiday: Valentine’s Day? Red and pink sprinkles for the win! Easter gathering? Pastel sprinkles. Change the color of the sprinkles to literally make these work for any special occasion!
- You can melt the chocolate stove top. love to use the double boiler method when melting chocolate but a microwave can be great as well. Definitely go with your favorite method.
- While the recipe says to stir in the cream cheese, I have used the food processor to mix it in with very little issue. You just have to really break up the cream cheese into pieces and make sure it’s somewhat soft.
Storage:
Store these cookie balls in an airtight container for up to one week in the refrigerator. You can allow them to sit out for about 10-15 minutes before serving to allow them to come to room temperature.
To freeze, store in a freezer safe container for up to 3 months. Thaw in the refrigerator overnight before eating.
