This Blood Orange Champagne Sangria takes less than 10 minutes to whip up—I think you can handle that! Drinks? Covered!

I am a sucker for this ginger peach sangria as well, but there is nothing like a citrus sangria, and this sparkling cocktail will be a hit with the crowd!

Why You Will Love This Blood Orange Sangria:

  • It only takes 10 minutes to prep.
  • It’s so bubbly and refreshing.
  • Takes advantage of citrus season.
  • Great for parties!

What are blood oranges?

A blood orange looks a lot like a regular orange but on the inside, they are something else entirely. The oranges almost look stained with dark crimsons and reds—some darker than others.

The flavor can be a touch sweeter than other oranges, and it’s said that they have a hint of raspberry flavor. That is my kind of fruit!

What you need to make this blood orange sangria:

  1. Prosecco or Champagne: choose your favorite sparkling white wine.
  2. Blood Oranges: if it’s citrus and orange season, these are so easy to find. If not, it can be tricky. This is why we make this easy cocktail over the holiday season. You could use another orange if preferred.
  3. Lemon: slice up lemon to add in with the orange slices
  4. Sugar: just a touch to balance the cocktail out, but this is optional.
  5. Orange Liqueur: typically we have Cointreau on hand so that is my go to. Triple Sec is another popular option.
  6. Seltzer Water: add seltzer or club soda to taste. I sometimes use an orange seltzer water for another pop of flavor.

How to Make This Blood Orange Sangria:

  1. Juice 1/2 of the blood oranges and slice the rest along with the lemon. If there is pulp in the blood orange juice, run it through a mesh strainer to remove it.
  2. Add the lemon and sliced oranges to the bottom of a large pitcher. Pour the blood orange juice, orange liqueur, sugar and champagne over top. Add the seltzer– as much as little as desired, or just to fill to the top.
  3. Chill until ready to serve!

I add a sprig or two of thyme to make the cocktails a little more fun, but that’s about all it takes for this festive and gorgeous drink to be ready for the party.

Looks like you are all set for this bright and festive season! Whether you are hosting a big party or just a couple of old friends, don’t worry so much about how everything looks. Make sure you have a few great things to eat and drink and start making all the memories!
