When it comes to fish, salmon is such a perfect option. So flavorful and good for you too!

We love Instant Pot Salmon a lot when we have frozen salmon, and grilled of course is perfection. A full meal in my favorite Pesto Roasted Salmon Dinner or these Greek Salmon Rice Bowls. but this simple Orange Maple Salmon is by far our favorite way to enjoy it. Hands down, every time.

Why You Will Love This Orange Maple Salmon:

  • The addition of orange adds so much, so easily. There is maple orange salmon and then there is orange maple glazed salmon. Once you add a pop of citrus to your fish, you won’t want it any other way.
  • Only 5 minutes to prep. Whisk the glaze together, smother the fish and from there it is just a matter of baking it up!
  • You only need a handful of simple ingredients. I always have all of the ingredients needed for this salmon recipe on hand. Salmon is in the freezer and the only thing I sometimes have to double check on is a fresh orange.
  • Pairs well with many dinner options. You can pair it with a nice spring green salad, parmesan roasted green beans or just some basic broccoli. We also love to shake it up a bit with a ramen cabbage salad. This Lemon Orzo is another great option. Some rice and veggies are a great option. Over a salad–you name it, this salmon is a perfect partner!

Ingredients:

  • salmon: A lot of considerations may impact what kind of salmon you choose, but choose the best salmon for you! While it may seem the grocery store fish section has the freshest, often this has been thawed from frozen so I often will select frozen salmon so that I can thaw it exactly when I am ready. • maple: make sure to use real maple syrup versus pancake syrup for this orange maple glazed salmon. You want the real stuff for the rich, bold maple flavor.
  • orange juice: I highly suggest freshly squeezed since you already will most likely have the orange for the zest.
  • orange zest: save some extra for serving!
  • garlic: freshly minced for the most flavor
  • soy sauce: for gluten free, use tamari. Double check that it says “gluten free.” Also, you can opt for a lower sodium soy sauce as I typically prefer it.
  • salt and pepper

How to Make this Orange Maple Salmon:

You can add the orange maple glaze to your salmon up to one hour in advance. 20-30 minutes is really all you will need though.

Start out by whisking together all of the orange maple glaze ingredients well. Set aside.

Prep the salmon. Spray a 9×13 inch pan with oil. Place the salmon filets skin side down in the dish and pat them dry.

Sprinkle with salt and pepper.

Spread about 2/3 of the maple glaze generously over the salmon filets. It’s okay if some of it slides off as this will thicken into a sauce while it cooks. You will love that later!

Place the pan in a preheated oven (400°F) and cook for about 12-14 minutes or until it is just about done cooking.

Spoon the rest of the orange maple glaze over the salmon and set the oven to broil for about 2-4 minutes, until golden and crisp on the edges and the internal temperature has reached about 145°F.

Remove from the oven and allow to cool for several minutes before serving.

Recipe Tips:

  • The glaze in this recipe will splatter a bit while in the oven. You can lightly lay a piece of foil or make a tent foil over top if desired while baking to keep it from getting everywhere. Just remove it when broiling.
  • The thickness of your salmon fillets may vary the cook time slightly when making this maple glazed salmon recipe. I find using a meat thermometer so handy when determining whether it is fully cooked or not.
  • While it is suggested that internal temperature of salmon reaches 145°F, not everyone prefers it that done. Adjust the time to your desired temperature. If it is already at the temperature you like before broiling, just skip this part so as not to overcook it.
  • For best results, keep the salmon skin on while cooking this orange maple glazed salmon. Even if you don’t like the skin, leave it on as it will help the salmon retain moisture. No one wants dry salmon, right?
